About us
We embrace our Baptist values while ensuring that our services and our approach reflect the local community and contemporary practices.
If you are looking for a place to belong where you can explore and develop your own sense of faith LJBC would be delighted to help you on your journey. Although we are an eclectic bunch of imperfect people we are committed to growing and changing as God transforms us all.
The groups and activities that we operate are aligned to five clear purposes (L.I.G.H.T.): Loving People, Including People, Gathering to Celebrate, Holding each other accountable, and Transformation through relationship with God. To paraphrase Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:14 – ‘we endeavour to reflect God’s light to the world – like a community on a hilltop that cannot be hidden’.
Our congregations are relaxed with an emphasis on God’s word and worshipping together. Our theology is defined by a statement of faith which attempts to capture the basic theology we hold onto while we allow each believer to form their own accountable relationship with God.
We believe strongly in the need to protect vulnerable people and have implemented the SafeChurch policy. This includes training our leaders in how to make sure that our church activities, facilities and practises are aligned to the policy.
