Senior Pastor and Chairman of College Board

Stephen has been Senior Pastor at ljbaptist since January 2007 bringing a wealth of Church leadership involvement and experience covering more than three decades in QLD, NSW and now WA. He is married to Dawn and they have three adult sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grand-children. Stephen has a God-given passion to communicate God’s Word in a way that can be better understood and practically applied to all of life. He seeks to makes God’s truth relevant to living life today as God intended – to the full. Stephen is responsible for teaching ministries and applications at ljbaptist, the ChurchCare Network, and the overall vision and direction of the Church. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lake Joondalup Baptist College, a K-12 co-educational College established in 1990 as a key ministry at ljbaptist. Stephen is passionate about the local Church, his family, a good Wilbur Smith novel (read them all), and the only game that matters – soccer.

Wayne joined the pastoral team in July 2011 and has a major role in the Small Group ministry and LJ Care Fund Inc - a public benevolent and deductible gift recipient social outreach and support organisation founded at ljbaptist to improve the life of the infirm and needy in the Joondalup and surrounding communities.

Prior to joining the team at ljbaptist Wayne had a background of almost thirty years in the not-for-profit aged care, retirement and seniors' housing sectors in Perth at a para church and social services executive level. Wayne is married to Janice and they have two adult children, both of whom are being married in the second half of 2012.

Having completed high school at Lake Joondalup Baptist College in 2003, Ed then studied a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design. After graduating in 2007, he worked in the print and design industry. Ed was led by God to take the role of Youth Pastor at ljbaptist in 2008. Ed’s passion is leading students in nearness to Christ through preaching the Word of God, training our future leaders and directing the many ministries and programs of the Youth Department.

Ed is happily married to Nelly and they enjoy the beach, playing music and traveling together. Back in the day, Ed was once in a popular heavy metal band, ask him about it one day!

Julia Devereux

Youth Worker

Completing secondary school at Lake Joondalup Baptist College in 2010, Julia was then selected as World Vision’s Youth Ambassador in Western Australia in the following year. This took her on an adventure to East Timor visiting World Vision community projects. Once returning to Australia, she spoke at many schools to share her experiences. Julia has a heart for helping girls through the struggles of adolescence, encouraging them through life. Her aim is to build healthy self-esteem and grow self confidence in our girls. Julia is married to Michael, whom she met whilst volunteering on a Scripture Union Sailing Camp. They share the same dream in life, to assist and minister to people in developing nations.
