Daniel is also an avid sports fan. Wendy Howell

Wendy joined the LJ Baptist staff team in mid 2014. She has a passion for helping others and for the Church to be the hands and feet of Christ for those within the congregation and in the wider community.

Wendy loves to assist and witness the various ministries of LJ to thrive and bless those involved and those they serve.

Wendy has been previously involved with several community groups and boards and spent 8 years of her young adult life in the Scouting movement as a Rover. While a Rover, among other positions, she represented her state on the National Council, was an aide-de-camp to the state Chief Commissioner of Scouting as well as the Governor of Queensland. With a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Wendy has a passion for the Australian bush spending 17 years in remote country towns in Queensland and Western Australia as an Environmental Officer and Manager for a mining company. She spent many of her school holidays as a child visiting and working on her cousins’ sheep stations in outback Queensland.

Wendy was living in Newman, north-west WA, with her husband, Brad, and two daughters prior to moving to Perth in 2010 to meet the educational needs of her daughters, now teenagers. It was then she came to LJ and was welcomed as family.

Originally from Brisbane, Queensland, Wendy is an avid cricket fan and mad Scorchers follower. Being born and bred in Queensland, she is a keen supporter of the Queensland State of Origin Rugby League football team. Wendy loves camping with her family, sightseeing around her own “backyard,” and catching up with friends. Though she rarely has the chance these days, Wendy enjoys a horse ride through the bush.

Janet Judd

After many years of volunteering in Children’s Ministry Janet followed God’s prompting to accept the position of leading the early childhood area in January 2017. Janet’s professional background is in education; including classroom teaching, school administration and lecturing in adult and higher education. Working with young children and their parents enables Janet to combine her love of children and her desire to support and encourage parents as they navigate the wonderful, but also challenging, period of raising young children.

Janet is married to Neale. They have three adult children, a son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren (so far). Janet has always loved being a hands-on and involved ‘mum’ but since joining the ‘grandparents’ club’ has decided that this might be the ultimate club to belong too!

Janet originally hails from NSW, which explains the rest of the family’s ardent support of the Sydney Swans. The family also previously lived in South Australia and enjoyed two stints in the Pilbara area of WA before settling in Perth in 2005. An important aspect of life that Janet is very thankful for is that wherever she has lived she has benefitted from the support of a Church community and especially strong women of faith who have walked life alongside her.

Continuing to grow in her own knowledge of Jesus, sharing the truth of God’s word and sowing seeds of faith into the lives of little ones is Janet’s on-going desire as she serves at LJ Baptist. She also strongly believes in ‘making a joyful noise’ and invites anyone who wants to know more about that to drop by the Church hall on Tuesday mornings.

She has facilitated several small groups, compiled teaching material for children’s ministry, designed the layout for a Christian newspaper, presented leadership training, organised events such as Vacation Bible Schools and women’s conferences, offered pastoral care and also did a little public speaking.

Michelle holds a Bachelor in Art Education which might explain her creative streak. She will also complete her Certificate IV in Ministry at Vose at the end of 2018. She hopes to never lose the desire to be a curious student of life. Michelle delights in learning new things, exploring different horizons and finds pleasure in collaborating with others on this journey. Contrary to popular belief she is an adamant introvert and finds great solace in solitude and silence. She is nonetheless passionate about inspiring and encouraging people to expand their potential in Christ.
